Hedgehog is a cybersecurity device designed to monitor and protect home networks through AI. The challenge was translating complex, invisible system behaviour into a clear and understandable user experience — helping users feel in control without requiring technical knowledge.

The Challenge
Cybersecurity operates largely in the background, making it difficult for users to understand what is happening or why.
A key challenge was designing feedback that builds trust without overwhelming users with technical details.
My Role
I owned the UI and visual system, working alongside a UX designer who led the flows. My focus was on how the interface expressed what the system was doing — translating states and feedback into something a non-technical user could immediately read and act on.
The Visual Language
The key decision was how to communicate risk level across three states: safe, warning, and blocked. Hard red reads as emergency — it triggers panic or gets ignored. I used a warm coral palette instead: firm enough to signal that something needs attention, calm enough that users respond rather than freeze.
The full UI system — typography, color, components — was built around the same principle: clarity without alarm.
Outcome
Delivered as a high-fidelity prototype for stakeholder and investor presentations, covering device management, network status, and alert flows.
