Shiken is an AI-powered learning platform combining quizzes, courses, and adaptive feedback — with gamification, mindfulness, and progress tracking built in to keep users engaged over time. It serves two distinct groups: learners consuming content, and educators building and managing it.

The Challenge
The product had evolved through multiple designers, leaving inconsistent patterns across mobile and web. At the same time it needed to serve two fundamentally different users within one coherent system. The challenge was bringing structure to a live product without stopping to rebuild it from scratch.

My Role
Sole designer for 4 years. Full design stack — UI, specs, design system, product direction, client relationships. First role with this level of ownership.
The Work
The hardest problem: one product, two completely different users. Learners needed it to not feel like studying. Educators needed control and structure. Same navigation, same components, same visual language — no compromise on either side.
As the product grew — multiplayer, store, mindfulness, courses, AI chatbot — every new feature had to feel like it belonged, not bolted on.
